Image Enhancement

The process includes de-skewing and despeckling the scanned images with the latest digital technology. This enhances the quality of the original image captured on film and improves the accuracy of the OCR process so you get the best images and the most precise retrieval.

In this “Before” example, you can see a long blackish line running from the center to the bottom right. This is a crease or fold in the original paper when the film was shot. The blotch at the bottom right is created from excess ink on the original page. You’ll notice a lot of specks in the background.
By using software to despeckle and deskew the scanned image we can improve the quality of the original image captured in film.
In the “After” example, notice how the crease has been removed, the ink blot has disappeared, the background “noise” is eliminated, and the page has been skewed to a straight vertical alignment.
