ProQuest Historical Newspapers Selected as Booklist Editor's Choice 2007 Top of the List for Reference
ANN ARBOR, Mich., December 13, 2007 -- ProQuest Historical Newspapers has been selected as Booklist Editor's Choice 2007 Top of the List for Reference. Every January, Booklist editors list what they've determined are the best titles reviewed the previous year. When ProQuest Historical Newspapers was reviewed in September 2007, reviewer Christine Bulson noted "Historical Newspapers remains a fantastic resource for any school, public, or academic library. ProQuest has made a major contribution in providing a firsthand look at the U.S. and the world from 1764 to the present."

"It is gratifying to be recognized as the best-of-the-best in reference and a powerful illustration of ProQuest's commitment to providing high quality, innovative research solutions," said Rod Gauvin, senior vice president of publishing for ProQuest.  "We are especially honored to receive an award from a publication that has represented librarians for more than 100 years.  After all, we feel ProQuest Historical Newspapers' sustained success has much to do with our ongoing and strong collaboration with the library community."

The 2007 Editor's Choice for reference has 25 titles, of which three are electronic. From this list, Booklist further selects what they call the "Top of the List" -- the single best title in eight categories-adult fiction, adult nonfiction, youth fiction, youth nonfiction, youth picture book, reference source, video/DVD, and audiobook.  ProQuest Historical Newspapers was selected "Top of the List" for reference.
