ProQuest Completes the Addition of COS Research Support Services to CSA Illumina
PapersInvited™ Joins Suite of Resources on CSA Illumina Offering Researchers Access to Funding, Experts, and Publishing Opportunities
|
ANN ARBOR, Mich., June 18, 2007 -- ProQuest has added PapersInvited to complete the suite of COS™ Research Support Services now available on the CSA Illumina™ platform. Introduced in 2006, COS Research Support Services combines the COS Scholar Universe™, COS Funding Opportunities®, and now PapersInvited services on the CSA Illumina platform, supporting academic and scientific research across all disciplines. COS Research Support Services puts researchers in touch with money, scholars and experts, and calls for papers and other publishing opportunities. CSA Illumina is a premier research platform which provides access to more than 100 full-text and bibliographic databases in the arts and humanities; natural sciences, social sciences, and technology and engineering. CSA Illumina’s popularity with research libraries, its simple but powerful searching and its interdisciplinary coverage make it an ideal access-point for COS Research Support Services.
"These resources have long been heavily relied upon by research administrators, advanced-level funding seekers, corporate researchers, and publishers," said Jeff Baer, president of the COS division of ProQuest. "While they will continue to be available on their original platforms, we're pleased to offer another option that brings all of these resources together in a format more familiar to library patrons. Adding this suite of products to the renowned CSA Illumina platform opens access to the full spectrum of research at libraries everywhere."
COS Scholar Universe is a searchable, editorially-controlled database of more than 1.3 million published scholars in more than 200 disciplines and 9 countries. With COS Scholar Universe, faculty, and students are directly connected to the community of scholarly research. Exploring this living research community expands awareness and access to cross-disciplinary research perspectives, publications, research methodologies, expertise, and collaborative opportunity. It is an ideal tool for students to expand their networks, by helping them find people working in their fields of interest.
COS Funding Opportunities is world's most comprehensive research funding resource, with more than 24,000 records representing nearly 400,000 opportunities, worth more than $33 billion. It was introduced in 1996, and is used by the top 10 US research institutions and most of the top 100, as well as hundreds of universities across the US, Canada, UK, Australia and more. Funding is available for many purposes, such as research, collaborations, travel, curriculum development, conferences, fellowships, postdoctoral positions, equipment acquisitions, and capital or operating expenses. COS Funding Opportunities will continue to be available on the COS.com platform, where it has tools and features that make it optimal for research administration and advanced-level funding seekers.
PapersInvited is the latest addition to the COS Research Support Services on CSA Illumina. PapersInvited is a multidisciplinary alerting service for calls for papers for upcoming conferences and special issues of scholarly journals. It is designed for researchers -- primarily graduates and faculty, as well as those in corporations and government agencies. It is especially useful for academics looking to present work to be published in conference proceedings. PapersInvited is also relevant for undergraduates and includes a section specifically on student competitions and awards.
