ProQuest Archiver, www.pqarchiver.com, provides an e-commerce platform for publishers on the Web to highlight a publication’s past, present, and future issues. ProQuest Information and Learning, a unit of ProQuest Company, creates and publishes databases for libraries and educational institutions worldwide.
Titles in the collection include: Information Today, ONLINE, Searcher, Computers in Libraries, EContent, EMedia/EventDV, Multimedia & Internet @ Schools, CRM, and KMWorld. The collection also includes past issues of Link-Up (now incorporated into Information Today). More than 25,000 full-text news reports, articles, interviews, and critical reviews about the companies, products and people who comprise the digital content and electronic information services industry are included.
“We are excited to extend our partnership with Information Today to make this valuable information available directly to individual readers and researchers through the Article Archive,” said Diane Schulman, Director of Publisher Services, ProQuest.
Information Today has now integrated these articles into its search tools and pages at http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/infotoday/search.html. Readers may search by date, keyword, headline or byline; read a free preview of the first paragraph of each article; and purchase the article image. Articles are available for $2.95 each or in packages of 5, 15, or 200 articles.
“We are delighted to join with ProQuest in making this long-anticipated service possible,” said Dick Kaser, ITI's Vice President of Content. “The release of this archive means that everything we publish--all of the voices and views of our expert reporters and commentators--are now available in digital form from our Web site. Now everyone, and not just those with access to academic databases, will have access to our full collection.”
The complete content of more than 750 issues is archived. New articles are added as published, usually within six weeks of publication. Articles are available in a variety of formats. Readers can choose the format they would like to view by clicking an icon next to the article title. All formats may not be available for each article. These formats may be available:
- Free Preview provides bibliographic information about the article, such as author and publication date, and a brief summary, but no photos.
- Full Text version includes the citation and abstract, along with the complete text of the article, but no photos.
- Text+Graphics format provides the citation, abstract, and full text of the article, as well as all important graphics such as photographs, illustrations, or charts that were originally published with the article.
- Page Image offers a black-and-white scanned page of the article as it was originally printed, delivered in Adobe PDF.
Readers may choose to print an article or save it for personal review later. They have access to the document for 90 days, so they may complete the same search and retrieve the document again during this time period.
