ProQuest Gains Rights to Distribute Non-Embargoed Springer Journal Content
Premium set of Business, Medical, and General Reference content available as upgrade to select ProQuest Database Customers Divided line

ANN ARBOR, Mich., June 23, 2006 - ProQuest Information and Learning announced today an agreement with Springer Science and Business Media that will bring un-embargoed full-text Springer business, general reference, and medicine journals to ProQuest's online databases, including ABI/INFORM Global, ProQuest Medical Library, ProQuest Health & Medical Complete and ProQuest Research Library. This agreement allows ProQuest to distribute the journal content electronically to libraries around the world and strengthens the relationship between the two companies while expanding the reach of this content beyond traditional markets.

"We are pleased to leverage our strong customer relationships to bring Springer's essential STM and business journal content to a greater number of libraries," said Todd Fegan, Vice President of Publishing for ProQuest Information and Learning.   "Our partnership with Springer brings a new model to the market that gives small to medium sized public, government, and academic library customers more options for journal content.  The un-embargoed content allows libraries to meet patron needs for immediate access to the most up-to-date information available."

"In terms of access to our content, our philosophy is:  'The more, the merrier'.  We are pleased to welcome ProQuest to the growing number of companies that help bring our content to the academic and business communities," said Kim Zwollo, Director Special Licensing, Springer.

Through this agreement libraries with ABI/INFORM Global, ProQuest Medical Library, ProQuest Health & Medical Complete, and ProQuest Research Library can upgrade their subscriptions to include these premium content packages for a modest increase in price.  Libraries can upgrade to any of several subject-based content sets including business, medical, and general reference packages.
