ProQuest's Successful Newspaper Digitization Program Expands
Collection of regional, local, and major historical newspapers serves patrons of public libraries

ANN ARBOR, Mich., March 21, 2006 - ProQuest Information and Learning has expanded its acclaimed newspaper digitization program with content and the addition of new titles. ProQuest Newsstand™ now features additional regional and local current newspapers, and ProQuest Historical Newspapers™ now include additional years of coverage. Continuous enhancement of these programs offers libraries a total news solution, with diverse content, ability to do comprehensive research, user-friendly databases, and flexibility in selection of packages. ProQuest Newsstand consists of more than 500 current newspapers; 350 papers are available in full-text. Libraries can customize newspaper packages with content that is most relevant to their patrons. Patrons not only can find out what is going on in the world, they also can read news important to their communities. ProQuest continues to make progress on newspaper digitization by adding years of coverage to ProQuest Historical Newspapers. An additional year of coverage is now included for The New York Times (1851-2003), The Wall Street Journal (1889-1989), Washington Post (1877-1990), Christian Science Monitor (1908-1993), and Boston Globe (1872-1923). Four years of coverage have been added to the Atlanta Constitution (1868-1929). Earlier this month, ProQuest announced the addition of The Hartford Courant archive, dating back to 1764.
